Hello! I think that problems with granted credit for some computers is caused by imbalance in the estimation of the task completion time. We fixed it and watching.

Thanks for that hoarfrost,

Resetting the computers made no difference to awarded points, just 0.69 for the latest Linux work unit.

(My computer are not hidden so you can see the benchmark results for both Linux computers.)

Thanks

Hello Conan! Do this computers have the right benchmark?

G'Day hoarfrost,
As far as I can tell they have, I don't alter or stop BOINC generating Benchmarks as it will always gives very low points (e.g. stopping benchmarks gives 1 billion floating point and 1 billion integer results, my computers are many times that figure).

Any time I see low points that 1 billion figure for both benchmark results is nearly always the cause and I hate it.

I have not received any work on my Linux machines to see if the resets made any difference.

Thanks

Dear participants, after sending last tasks for target 20 (corona_DHODH_v1) we will start the experiment with one of already processed targets but with new parameters. Results for this tasks will be large and we will slow down the creation of new tasks for reducing load on network infrastructure. Often there will be no tasks.

Thank you for project support!

Thanks for that hoarfrost, the updates are very much appreciated.

Just wondering about some of the recent work that has been released, on 2 near identical systems (Ryzen 5900x cpus), one Windows and one Linux, for the same run time the

Windows computer gets 20 points but the
Linux computer gets just 1 point,

Been happening since the short test releases recently.

I am very curious as to why the difference?

Thanks
Conan

My other Linux computer gives even less at just 0.6 points per WU.

I may reset the project to see if anything changes.

Hi,

I joined this team sometime ago & have yet to receive anything to process? Is the project over?

I have Virtual Box on a MacBook Pro & was going to put this up on my Windows 10 desktop, but if data to process is no longer being sent out, maybe I should just delete the project?

Thanks,

Phillip Slaughter

There are 64 bit Windows and Linux apps, it should run in your VM, plenty of work currently.

If you have the correct certificate and things still don't upload or download, then you may have to detach and re-attach to the project.

I had to do this on 5 different projects, three of which were http not https, all were on Windows both XP and 7.

My Linux machine didn't miss a beat.

Plus if using Firefox it stores it's own list of certificates and if up to date will work even if some Windows files don't as they rely on the computer for certificate information.

I had to import and install the new ISRG Root X1 certificate as an individual .pem file to get some of the Windows things working properly. Explorer still does not work but I don't use it so no problem there.

Recently I have been getting between 10 and 16 points per WU, with run times from 1000 to 1500 seconds.
Today I noticed that a number (at least 5) have been granted from 1 to 4 points for similar run times.

Any idea why? or are we using Credit New so it gives what it wants no matter what?

Thanks

This a pity as I need just a few more RXDock work units to get my 100 hours up at WUProp and I only have Linux.
I will do more than 100 hours worth of work but need the work units to do that.

As MarieCurie has just run out can we have some RXDock work as well?

I have noticed that the RxDock work units get about 3 x the credits that CurieMarieDock work units get for the same runtime.

If a RxDock WU runs for 2,500 odd seconds it gets about 45 points for me.
If a CurieMarieDock WU runs for 2,500 seconds it gets about 17 points for me.

This happens on all work units, the RxDock always seem to get 3 times the credit that CurieMarieDock work units get.

Do they do something completely different so the credit scores are that far apart.

My computer is not hidden so you can what I am talking about.

It would be nice if the CurieMarieDock work units got at least the same credits as the RxDock work units.

Thanks

11) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : GLIBC_2.27 Req (Message 395)

Post:
As I wanted to run all applications I could, I decided to take the upgrade path rather than any hacks.
This seemed a good idea at the time, so I went ahead with it.

I started with Fedora 23 which has GLIBC 2.22
Went to Fedora 25 which has GLIBC 2.24, this seemed to go OK.
So jumped with confidence to Fedora 27 which has GLIBC 2.26, again seemed to go OK
Confidence still high started Fedora 29 download (Fedora 28 has GLIBC 2.27) with GLIBC 2.28
All seemed OK with download and install of updates till the reboot, would not get past first boot up screen.
OH NO I though what have I done?

Long story shortened, 18 hours later I found a way via editing the BOOT menu to get the GUI back and then Fedora
tells me "Congratulations Fedora 29 update complete",,, What.
Anyway I am too scared to reboot again Linux Fedora 29 is running with GLIBC 2.28 and I can launch BOINC, CurieMarieDock work units have been running fine.

I still can't get the BOINC Manager to work, all files appear to be there, but nothing happens when I launch it, so I can't see what is running unless I check Task Manager.

(I launched BOINC directly from the BOINC folder using boinc executable, the boincmgr executable is the one not launching.
So 2 days to get back up and running (mostly), but it has been a learning experience,

I should do single version upgrades of the OS not multiples, less time and less things to go wrong.

Backup your data, I didn't but was lucky as it all stayed there and I didn't lose anything.

Don't leave it so long to upgrade (I will still probably leave it as I don't plan on upgrading every 6 months, if it works don't touch it)

Make sure you have a lot of hot Tea (or Coffee if you prefer), food or snacks available as it will take a long time to do multiple updates.

Onward with the fun of computing (I will laugh about this sometime in the future I am sure).
