Drug development is a time-consuming and costly process. With help of your computers, our team is able to speed up discovery of prospective candidates for in vitro tests. At the same time, the volume of biological evaluation is limited by funding. We are in constant search for additional sources, and, since SiDock@home allows the participants to earn Gridcoins, we find it a good idea to accept voluntary donations. If you feel like donating to the project, please use one of the listed options.

How many $/€/GRC do you need to evaluate a single compound? My hunch is that this is below $/€1000, which should be in reach for individual teams to fund - would you give medals for that?

Incorporation of the personal donations into the workflow is a great idea, we will do our best for it.

The question about the cost of biological evaluation is very complex as it includes the cost of compounds themselves as well as researcher time with lab supplies (assay cost) and all equipment. But your hunch is good and current in vitro enzyme inhibition assays are well achievable: Single compound costs range from 50 to cca 100 € per compound "in stock" with up to 200 € for "on demand" compounds. Together with everything, we would estimate the average costs per single compound reside around 100-150 €.

Nevertheless, we aim towards additional cell and SPR assays in the future and that will bring us additional costs as well as accompanying analytics on the compounds (MS, NMR, HPLC). That will be done only for the best hits so we are not afraid of the future! We are focused on finding good compounds and bringing new information to the field!

Hi Natalia,

you are trying to load "https://www.sidock.si/user/currency.js" on your donation page ("../user/currency.js" to be exact), but this request leads to a 404 error ("not found") so that the "Estimated value in <currency>" cannot be calculated. At first glance, the correct link should be "https://www.sidock.si/sidock/currency.js".

Kind regards,

walli

Thank you for making it so easy to use PayPal for setting up Donations.
Bill
PS is did take 3 tries to get it right.
The 1st time I used the "This project is also accepting donations via PayPal."
Then cancelled it then noted that it is a donation and the Forum is a Payment.
I use the Forum the 2nd time but could not setup a monthly payment.
Then I use the "Or use donate button:" and this was also PayPal and same as the link above I used the 1st time and was able to setup monthly payments.
It would also maybe help to put "With PayPal" next the Proceed Button.
Not really sure what the Forum is using a PayPal Payment Process and not the PayPal Donate Process.

Hi Natalia,I suggest that you can create some badges to people who have conferred to SiDock@home,just like another project"Milkyway@home".https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/badges/badge_special.png.This badge is for people who made extrodnarily contribition to the project.
