An outbreak of the Nipah virus has occurred in Asia. It is more dangerous than COVID-19 and has a high mortality rate. The infection can be transmitted to humans from bats, pigs, and even from person to person. The main risk areas are considered to be Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, and Singapore. According to Alexander Novikov, a general practitioner at Poliklinika.ru, the disease often begins with symptoms similar to the common flu: a sharp rise in temperature, severe headaches, muscle pain, and fatigue. The virus affects the nervous system, causing some patients to experience confusion and seizures. In severe cases, the infection can lead to coma and acute respiratory failure, he explained.
