I don't know if that is an important consideration for the servers on this project or not, but that was the original idea I believe, in addition to giving you some cushion in case of a server outage of course.
The workunits are sent with the flag <report_immediately/>, so the project wants them back asap.
When reported you'll get new tasks up to the server limit 2/thread.
24) Questions and Answers : Windows : Why is rxdock only for linux? (Message 308)
Posted 20 Dec 2020 by Crystal Pellet
Post:
We have CMDock for Windows, Linux and Mac. It is optimized and runs faster. We keep RXDock for Linux for the computers that do not have a new GLIBC library, but want to participate.

Maybe you could add RxDock for Windows too again.

I know you are really working hard to keep the queue's filled, but sometimes the queue for CurieMarieDock on BOINC is empty and then we could do some RxDock's
using BOINC's option: If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?
How is the progress to create work-units automatically?

Is it just coïncidence, cause the dockings were simpler, or is cm-docking faster than the rx-docking?

Om my Windows machine comparing the last 20 tasks from each application: rxdock avg cpu 8533 sec./task and cmdock avg cpu 6687 sec./task.

It seems no coïncidence then from the server status page the average runtime of last 100 tasks: rxdock 1.19 hours and cmdock 0.99 hours.

Good job!
Good job for the Windows version.
Normally I don't run Linux, but it seems that suspend on the Linux version isn't working either.
2 tasks were automatically suspended by BOINC (waiting to run), cause another mt-job needed all cores, but both tasks keep on running in the background.

Maybe this is an old BOINC issue for tasks not creating checkpoints and using a wrapper.

I found this in the BOINC-forum:
6 Nov 2018, 8:57:29 UTC
In his other thread on CPU time, Paul is asking about wrapper apps. Wrapper apps typically don't checkpoint, and BOINC won't suspend a task that hasn't checkpointed - that's been the case for years, and is not new for v7.14.2

This is not only a problem for a laptop running on batteries when suspending. On a desktop with Windows 7, I suspended a task manually.

Maybe the wrapper is doing nothing - suspended (can't see because of very low activity of that process),
but the corresponding rbdock.exe keeps on running and a new task started, because BOINC thinks there is a core free.
Of the "suspended" task docking_log and docking_out.sd are growing. Stderr.txt isn't touched.

Could you try to change lines

?
I did and your proposed lines seems to be successful.
I got an error message in BOINC's event log:
sidocktest 17 Nov 11:14:39 [error] merge_info(): failed to change permissions of get_fraction_done_11.8_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh
Probably because I changed the file as root, but it's working.

In the original version fraction_done stayed 0.000 and a lots of errors in stderr.txt https://fightcovid.boinc.ru/sidocktest/result.php?resultid=404437

In the modified version fraction_done is increasing (now 0.258). In BOINC Manager 25.8% progress.
The task is still busy. When ready you can see the result https://fightcovid.boinc.ru/sidocktest/result.php?resultid=405395

Sorry, that Debian VM is destroyed, but there are some other Debian hosts connected to this project.
Maybe one of those users is reading this and could try it, else I could give it a try tomorrow with a new Debian-VM and with my low Linux skills.

When changing a file within BOINC when has to disable file size check in BOINC's cc_config.xml.

See e.g. hosts 68, 83, 177 and 325.
The problem seems not to exist on Windows 10, but on Windows 7 the "timeout" is immediately killed.

"When TIMEOUT is executed, the input is redirected so that the command can wait for the user to interrupt the wait period.
This input reduction is not possible when the command is executed in the background
without the possibility of a user providing input and consequently the command fails immediately.
"

Adding /NOBREAK to the timeout did not solved the problem.
I changed the line in "ping -n 5 127.0.0.1 >NUL" and removed the 2nd Timeout (last line).
The 2nd timeout caused the computation error and is not really needed.
I have no idea how the change would affect your Linux/iOS versions.

Btw: On Win 7 I get in stderr
The handle could not be opened
during redirection of handle 0.
0 was unexpected at this time.

probably coming from the start of rbdock.exe, but is not destructive.
