22) Message boards : Number crunching : WU become longer and longer (Message 2076)

Post:
Hello! Some workunits really can be very long due to properties of compounds and their distribution into packages. For example, on my Ryzen, for one of unusual task, one of compound has been processed in 111 seconds, but next - in 2338 seconds. If task include more "long" compounds than usual, it's getting long.
Also, time that need for modeling of compound and target docking varies from target to target.

If you see an unusual task, simply check property "CPU time since last checkpoint" in BOINC Manager. If you see hours on computer with "Ryzen-class" CPU - you can check time of last change (or contents) of file docking_out.log in task slot directory. If it changes - computing is fine.

P.S. I also see on my computer, that tasks in last 2 days become longer. Don't panic, that is normal. :)

24) Questions and Answers : Windows : Task reset progress (Message 2065)

I have been running the newer task like CurieMarieDock 0.2.0 long tasks 2.02 and it would progress and eventually progress will reset to 0%
Has anyone else run into this?

Fallstar, hello! Yes, it can be. Several days ago we detect this bug. It happens after "cold restart" if another checkpoint did not have time to form and the calculations where stopped. (For current target checkpoint interval is about 1 ... 15 minutes).

The WUs that are running should complete soon and I’ll confirm when they do.

This is good news! Thank you for notice!

I have just restarted my secondary pc after a year’s absence and I’m seeing many WUs crashing with the above exit code, mostly after a few seconds. (So far no WUs have successfully completed but a couple are running ok).

Hello!
Would you try:
1. Project reset;
2. If reset didn't help:
2.1. Get multiple tasks;
2.2. Suspend network activity immediately after that;
2.3. After errors occur, copy files with names like <task_name>_1 and <task_name>_0 (if present) into separate directory and post it (or link to download) here. Perhaps, these files will contain a clue.

Thank you for participation!

Have several systems running sidock, all long tasks 0.2.0
Unaccountably 7 seem to be hung on a dual xeon 24 thread. running Linux

Hello! Would you post tasks names and current run time?

Thank you!

Good luck, Jochen!

Yes, sometimes we "see" "problematic computer" (with Windows 7 more often than others) and cannot explain what happens, exactly.
No explanation, probabilities only.

Bye!

Is there a specific logged event that you want reported in the error log? (As there are many options in the GUI - or should I tick them all???)
...

Flags like '*http*' and '*xfer*' maybe most interesting.
