1) Message boards : Number crunching : low credit awarded on restarted task (Message 2071)

So, it's been fixed in source for almost 3 months now...

What is taking so long to push / roll out the fixed executables to project server?
2) Message boards : Number crunching : low credit awarded on restarted task (Message 2069)

This project should QUIT BASING CREDIT AWARDED BASED ON RUN TIME.

Examples:
78621026 50533746 890 11 May 2023, 20:14:36 UTC 14 May 2023, 11:45:50 UTC Completed and validated 19,269.82 0.00 47.64 CurieMarieDock 0.2.0 long tasks v2.02
windows_x86_64
78597678 50510392 890 9 May 2023, 10:28:05 UTC 11 May 2023, 21:35:50 UTC Completed and validated 192,120.82 0.00 476.41 CurieMarieDock 0.2.0 long tasks v2.02
windows_x86_64

The most recent tasks returned only received 47.64 credit because the running time was ONLY CALCULATED after task restarted and was approximately 90% completed when the task was restarted due to power failure.

The previous task ran with out being interrupted and received 476.41 credit.

This is NOT FAIR NOR ACCURATE AWARD OF CRDITS and should be fixed.

... Boinc won't work.. Not sure how to let Boinc ignore this pedantry.

Nothing you can do with BOINC to allow communications withany project that has expired certificate.

SECURITY FOR A REASON. Would you like it if a web site that's no longer under the projects control install and run a malicious program using BOINC on your computer?

That did it. Thanks! Not sure why the check for update feature in the boinc manager said it was up to date. I'll know to check the website directly in the future.

GP

Due to the expired certificate file the BOINC PROGRAM COULD NOT ACCESS THE BOINC SERVER to see it was out of date. Kind of self defeated the built in update request you could say.

Drug discovery company works with ethnobotanists and data scientists

GB Sciences' approach to drug discovery combines artificial intelligence and the power of plants to find new treatments based on traditional medicine from around the world. Andrea Small-Howard, its chief science officer and president, said the company is identifying compounds in plants and how the treatments have been used traditionally. "Before computers, drug discovery was done using simplified systems," she said.

... but my arrangement means I have multiple BOINC Manager windows open on this machine so I can see what is happening without having to switch the screen from machine to machine, which means unplugging it and replugging to the other system ...

Why don't you download and install Efmer's BoincTasks? You can view and manage BOINC on MULTIPLE PC's from just one screen and see the status of all tasks on one screen.
For Linux there is Efmer's BoincTasks Js. It runs native on Linux, Mac and Windows.

In reply to Crystal Pellet's questions:
Are you using BoincTasks for your info.

No. info directly from BOINC.
Same exact info in BOINC Tasks as in BOINC.

Maybe the task has restarted somewhere in between.

Tasks never restarting or paused.

When you look with BOINC Manager, you'll see last checkpoint mostly a few minutes ago.

As said before, Not seeing checkpoints except as previously noted in BOINC.

When I get to my computers and have a task running I'll even post a directoy dump/listing with time stamps showing date/times of slot directory contents along with info from BOINC.

Post:
I have noticed the amount of time to complete recent tasks has substantially INCREASED.

ADMINS: Please consider extending the deadline by at least 24 hours and adding CHECKPOINTS. It is becoming increasing impossible to return a completed task even if it starts as soon as it's received and if I was to loose power due to the inclement weather, it would be a COMPLETE WASTE OF COMPUTED TIME!

EXAMPLE: 48 hours turn around
15 May 2021, 17:32:32 UTC 17 May 2021, 17:32:32 UTC Timed out - no response

It appears your WUs come with a 24 hour deadline and that's too short. It triggers a quirk in BOINC that changes the status of the WUs to High Priority and that turns off the GPUs since their CPUs get stolen to run High Priority CPU WUs. I'm going to file an Issue on github.
For now you could change it to 72 hours or maybe 48 hours is long enough to avoid this from happening.

It's odd that you only send 2 WUs per CPU thread and those can be completed in less than half a day. Ergo, 24 hours is more than enough. But it's not you it's BOINC.
For now I'm running in Resource Zero mode to see if that'll keep all my GPUs turned on.

I don't run GPU tasks and have Zero cache settings and still see this project wanting to take over my PC's and shoving other projects to the back burner by making these task run High Priority if they have not started within 12 hours of downloading.

I agree the 24 hour deadline is WAY TOO SHORT - 3 days like Rosetta's tasks is a more reasonable MINNIMUM turnaround, but ideally 7 to 14 days like what most projects use as a deadline would be better suited.
