I unfortunately have to share this observations/concerns.
There is no systematic behind the credits granted - at least it is not visible for me.

Some examples below (identical Hardware):

99,486.52 - 99,478.48 - 1,332.88 - CurieMarieDock 0.2.0 long tasks v2.02 - windows_x86_64
84,178.01 - 84,168.72 - 1,074.65 - CurieMarieDock 0.2.0 long tasks v2.02 - windows_x86_64

54,468.31 - 54,464.46 - 1,259.42 - CurieMarieDock 0.2.0 long tasks v2.02 - x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
51,716.79 - 51,689.46 - 660.01 - CurieMarieDock 0.2.0 long tasks v2.02 - x86_64-pc-linux-gnu

Any serious ideas?

Chris

I also observed some very strange issues.
The items below vary by factor 10 although having very similar runtimes (same machine type).

This behaviour started with v2.02 as older results from v2.00 were consistent.

It was great if someone could check or comment.

Thanks for the hint, good thing.
I will run dry my Worldcommunitygrid queues and give it another try :-)

Hello Jay,

Sometimes "buggy" tasks then drop down to a fraction of time reported but then continue from there.
I had tasks crossing 100 hrs and after suspend/resume they went down to 30 something and completed within normal times.
If I did not stop them, I guess they would have also crossed the deadline without finishing but wasting CPU/energy.

This is why I currently quit this project. Waiting for an improvement to return here :-)

Cheers
Chris

Thanks Marmot,

But I really expect that I can leave a system with its workload without standing aside watching and managing each WU..
This is a minimum that I feel I can get in return for donating my hardware and energy to a project.

Folks,

I was away for two days, so no babysitting for the WUs.
Guess what, some tasks claimed to be > 100 hrs and still have to run.
I suspended and resumed those items and they instantly returned to only a fraction of the already reported and wasted CPU time.
That's it for me, I will quit the project.
However I might return from time to time to review the postings. If something improved I might consider coming back.

Take care and best of success.

Dear Admins / Software Developers,

Please address the reported issues asap.
I already watch top contributors leaving this project and I will shortly follow when there is no improvement.

Take care.

Well it widely varies I guess.
On my "old but still good" XEON2697v2, some tasks cross 40 hrs ....

Teams, Crunchers,

There are still lots of buggy workunits around.
I consider those as being a waste of energy and computing power.

I am fully aware that this is a voluntary efford everyone is contributing here.
However, for the sake of the scientits as well as the volunteers issues should be fixed.

I feel there is either no attention or progress on fixing anything.
I will now start aborting all suspicious tasks, hoping an increase in aborted items will catch someones attention.

Finally, if there should be no improvement visible, I will dedicate computing capacity to other projects.
Very sad to talk like this but I do not see any other option.

Cheers
