Did you know? I have never been to Nebraska, Iowa, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, or American Samoa; nor have I been to New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, or Nunavut; nor to any countries but the USA (duh), Canada, the Bahamas, and the Netherlands Antilles (St. Maarten, Dutch side). I've not been to Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana, either (the last 3 even though I live in North Carolina!) Other than that, I've been everywhere, man...
Lest you think I have any political correctness in me at all, my favorite sports teams are the Washington Redskins and Atlanta Braves (and UNC Tarheels). I also like the Kansas City Chiefs to a degree, and the Chicago Blackhawks are ok with me due to their storied history. We all need to be less PC...
...And I am a true Confederate and proud Southerner. Even though I'm half-Northern. No twang, no redneck, no saying y'all (it's you all lol). But the real Flag, the Southern Cross, flies at my house, and I say this proudly. Our colors don't run, either. The South shall rise again. When it does, we'll be that much knowledgeable from the activities at BOINC.
Also, I'm 1/4 Hungarian, 1/16 or so Cherokee Indian, probably some German, and British totally... lol... |

--About BOINC and Me--
I have experimented with several DC projects offered by BOINC, seeing which ones produced the most results and were most deserving of my unused flops. I circulate my flops among, currently, about 45 projects. Several have no work to do, and I keep them in reserve. I prefer medical projects, anti-cancer and genomic work, usable natural science projects, and numeric studies of immediate import. This falls under the last... it's a help for all other projects, and that can only be good.
It's also GPU intensive, so it's basically free to score a lot of points without materially taking away from the flops I use for my preferred medical and other scientific projects. If I can accomplish something for little or nothing, then why not help, I asked myself...
Thus, I want to help in this study of ourselves and our own doings. I wish I could do more... oh, any other projects that come online via BOINC that deal in protein cataloging or research... count me in. Immunology? Count me in. If it's medical, count me in...
Beyond immunological and genetic research, I am most worried about NEA's and other NEO's. So I'll help out there, too, as best I can. I hope Orbit gets some more WU's :)
Incidentally, the pretty lady you see is not I, but one Hayley Westenra. She's a classical crossover singer from Christchurch, NZ, and has perhaps the best voice on the planet today. She is the biggest entertainment act in the history of New Zealand, and worldwide is 4x platinum in total sales. Check her out... but remember, gentlemen, I saw her first... :D
